How to download your WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter history

There are some social networks and apps that you probably use every day. This is the case of Facebook, WhatsApp or Twitter, for example. You use them almost without realizing that, every week, there are accounts of photographs, data or conversations that you maintain through them and, indirectly, you store in your history. The history of WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter can be downloaded, with all your conversations, photos and videos. You can archive it to consult when it suits you, if you delete the account in the social network and you want to save a “memory” or, in the case of WhatsApp, you can export it if you change your phone and want to continue using the account. We explain how to download your WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter history.

Twitter
Think about how much you have changed in a few years, how much your opinions have changed. All your tweets are stored in your Twitter file. What did you think in 2011, those friends, those comments that maybe now embarrass you. Everything is in the history of our account, which we can download.

From the configuration of Twitter (by clicking on your profile photo on the right, in “Settings and Privacy” ) you will have access to several options. Among all the possibilities that appear in the menu on the left, the first is ‘Account’ . Clicking on it, and scrolling, you will find a section of ‘Content’ where you will find ‘Your Twitter file’ and a button where you can request your file.

The file will include everything we have shared since the beginning of time. Tuits, links, photographs … Everything. Of course, you will not be downloaded right away but you will receive a Twitter link when you are ready via email.

Whatsapp
WhatsApp also saves all your conversations. You can save them in case you change your phone and want to keep having your messages and conversations in the new device. Not only the messages are saved but also the images you receive and the ones you send. In addition to saving the file to your phone, you can save it to the cloud via Google Drive .

To save it in the cloud, you can go to the Chats section in Settings and access to “Backup”. You can save it once manually but, if you forget, you can configure your WhatsApp account so that the chats are archived in Google Drive every one period of time. Once there, you’ll be able to see when the last copy was made and allow you to save it to Google Drive for download. Also, in case you are only interested in a specific conversation and want to save it and have it, you can access the chat history and click on “Send chat by email”.
